ok Mr Bedell! I'm an amatuer at this stuff but truly respect your opinion. My 1250 is probably 1974 or 1975 vintage, was beat up pretty badly when I got it 25 years ago. I've done the fluid/filter changes more often than I probably should have but I've never touched the hydro pump or relief valves. The old girl is struggling at times and I think it's time.

One of the sponsors of this great site seems to sell them. Any advice?

Respectfully disagree.

The gentleman in question has an excellent ebay track record, 100% positive feedback and is easily contacted by email. I've equipped 2 Cubs with his valves, and they have worked as good as new.

I have no intention of campaigning against the fine sponsors of this site, but we should still be fair to other vendors who also give excellent service. For the record, I have spent plenty of money with this website's sponsors.

ok...one side heard from...I will say that I love this site and should probably donate to keep it going. But aside from that, if one of their sponsors sells a good product at $5-10more than somebody else, I'll go that way. Shoot...I leave bigger tips at the supper club if I know the waitress needs the money.

Clarification....

My comment on "track record" is meant to mean 20+ years of reliable service. After all, some of those OEM relief valves go back to the 60's with dependable service.

This rebuilding dudes don't have that and thus, I stand by my statement.

IF one wants to go that route, by all means, do so.

Default Follow up

A year ago I posted a thread about leaky relief valves for the 125 and read up some good replies. Last year, I went with NOS valves from ebay for $90 a pair and they have worked great so far, now it's being a year later. Tractor is all bone dry underneath and the garage floor is clean. Sorry for not following up sooner, but I'd like to thank all those who helped.

Don't think you can beat his price or service.

Got a pair back from them last week, installed them and sent the ones I took out back to him for rebuild.

No problem here!

Add me to the list of satisfied 'timarc" rebuild customers. Turn around time just absolutely amazed me it was so quick. He returned all components replaced. Which included balls and springs as well as orings and backups. Pressure tested and back in my 1210, $74.95. I hope I don't need it often, but will not hesitate to send my valves his way

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
