IMHO - you got a great machine. I've got the same one that I'm putting back together.
I think you will enjoy long term this old International Harvester design. It certainly is very heavy duty too. A nice restoration would be great and that tractor ought to last a very long time. There are a couple of things you can do that are not to painful or costly is do an exhaust crutch update which involves a slightly Z shaped bracket. This will help prevent some cracking of the exhaust and the other mod is a super steering upgrade, which involves inserting a bearing into the steering assembly. I've got both of theses items for my 1650 and plan on using them as I put my tractor back together. Kirk Engines is who I bought my stuff from, I think he gets very good reviews for his Cub stuff. Start downloading manuals, etc from this site, search the 1650 for more info and enjoy the ride! Bill

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester.
