Doug,
Great shots! I agree the close ups show me what mine looks like before I get into it. Makes me want to do a complete restoration on the one I have too.
Whats up with 125's they seem to be dominating the treads or is it just me? Looks like you will have new paint on all of it if you don't stop soon! Did you see the 125 on the front cover Cadet Connection! Wow is it sweet.
Your front axle looks very nice. All that body work you do shows!
Keep the pictures coming!
Its going to look great with the tiller on the back.
Regards,
Chris

LOL thanks. I almost forgot about the #1 tiller.

I need to change the gasket on the back cover. is there a way to save the trans fluid? it cost to much to change just because I need to do a gasket.

thought about clean milk jugs , then after a week or so change the filter.

Doug,
Unless you just put in a lot of new oil, here is my 2 cents. When I tore into the hydro on the 147 I drained the fluid with the intent on changing it anyway. So it went into the oil recycling. Here is what I found, 30 years of sludge in the bottom of the case. So I cleaned that out. Changed the filer and put in new hytran oil. You wont have to change it again for another 30 years?
Regards,
Chris

Looking good 4SPD.

You might take a look at the bracket that the axle runs in, they tend to splay out.

If you use a bolt through your front axle, you have to machine off about half of the head or it won't clear the sump on your oil pan.

the guy I got it from said it had rework done to it , or something like that.
the oil still looks good (looks) im going to hold off on the gasket for now. its not leaking but a drip maybe every few day or so. takes a week to get a smaller then a dime size spot.

I have no sump in the pan. well dont think there is. I test fitted the bolt and have no issues that I see.
would a dealer replacment engine have a flat oil pan?

I'll have pics of it installed tonight.

pics of the bushing I put in. there is still a very very little bit of play in it. my guess is because the spindle is worn down to a little too. but its more the 75% better then it was.

added a few other pics that I did.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
