well , i've found a new student in the refurbishing class i'm teaching. seems like my daughter is more interested in this than my son. she helped me drag the 105 up on the bench, and wanted to know how/where to start. she is currently involved in a fashion design contest through school, and needs a project to take her mind off of it. i don't really know the direction she's jumping, but i enjoy having her along side asking questions about the tractor.
she can't wait to help repaint, although i think the 105 just needs a good wash and degreasing. we shall see. |

it's nice to have the tractor at a level that doesn't require bending. my daughter agrees that we should just get it going, but can't believe the rats nest for wiring. i showed her how many contacts there are in the electrical system that can fail. since she was a part of my refurbishing a 1984 renken bowrider, she remembered that i used "special wire" for under the dash on the boat. click. this tractor will be rewired in marine grade hardware. if anyone has ever tried this before or has an opinion they'd like to share, please do so. it sounds perfectly logical to me to do it this way. maybe costs a few bucks more. but in the long run, whoever gets this beauty after me will not have the problem i have now.
we'll need to take the carb off and soak it, and we're trying to get to the hydro shift lever and it's shaft as it is frozen. my daughter asks why i can't just bang it loose? $$$$$ |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
