Paint have it, decals have most of them, And the wheels were 8 bucks. To rechrome the handle would cost twice what the mower is worth, and not in the budget . I'm not looking to restore it, just make it look better. It will be headed right back up to camp to continue doing it's job.

Chrome-colored spray paint would probably look pretty close.

Great story Eric, that little bugger is cool! Ya know, I did have a nos briggs decal like the one on top there...I'll see if I can scrounge it up.

I'm with Matt, maybe a coat of VHT high temp/chemical resistant paint on the handle..they do make a bright chrome color, and if you can find a way to heat it up, that stuff cures real nice.

Good luck with it

Maybe I'll give that a try, never had much luck with it before though. It has been probably 15 years or more since I've used it though, probably much better now.

Hey bud, I did find it, the red is a tad faded, and I can't guarantee its as adhesive as it used to be, but its not beat up. If you want it, pm me your addy, and I'll have it in the mail

I'm digging this project. I didn't even know IH made push mowers.

Technically, they didn't make them, they bought them from outside vendors and slightly customized them. Another example is the 2-cycle pushmowers that are a Lawn Boy with a different engine cover. The walk-behind snowblowers and tillers look just about identical (mechanically) to some other brands from the same time period. Actually, I think the #2 cart is another example, if I'm not mistaken.

Well finally got some work done on the push mower. Looks good waiting on a couple of the decals to come in, and still need to paint the top half of the handle. But so far so good. Thanks for the briggs decal Jeff. The rear wheels are new and they were already red and real close to IH red so I might leave them red. I think they look good that way. Plus once I get the IH decal on the front they'll match the red in it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
