I was bored today, so I decided to try my hand at making a pto wear button. Took me about 1/2 an hour using a 3/4" brass pipe nipple plug, a bench grinder, dremel tool, and hand file.
It was a lot easier than I thought it would be, fits perfectly, and so far works great! Here are a few pics ![]() Jeff (teet) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Update: After re-adjusting the pto rod-turnbuckle, this new button works great. Ran the mower on my 127 for an hour or so turning the pto on and off multiple time, and the button shows almost no wear.
Think I'll be making a few more in my spare time ![]() Jeff (teet)

Anybody have the measurements on the wear button? I have a small metal lathe and I might try to make some.

I found the same brass plug at home depot but it's mostly hollow. I don't think it's going to work.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
