Looks great A.J.
Yah, I got the shaft on the same seat, not what the picture showed, and way to high.

Wouldn't it just be easier to buy a set of narrow rims?

Have fun finding the grill parts? You putting the stock size tires back on it - just in True Powers? What's the next project, the 582 Special or your 682?

I am pretty sure I am going to put the wider tri-ribs on my 782 when the time comes - like the looks of the wide tire.

Narrow rims were never a option for the 1" spindles. I could have went with the smaller 3/4" ones, but I wanted to retain the strength of the 1" ones.

The missing parts were pretty easy. To get the 782 roller, I traded a guy for a running 582 that I got cheap. I told him that I wanted to keep the headlight panel and that went on the 782. The 782 grille shell was in good shape so I could still use it. The rest of what I needed I got from a 682 that I parted or I just ordered a new one from the dealer.

The Tru Powers that are going on it are 23-10.50-12's. I found one locally on clearance for $60. That's why I have 1 and not the other. I was either going to put 10.50's or 8.50's on it originally. Personally, I can't stand the look of the 26's on regular GT's. It just don't look right in my eyes.

Tractor looks great! In the original pics looks like it had dual exhaust, one on each side.

How did you cut the wheels? Also, how wide did you make them as well as what tire are you running?

I basically cut 1 1/2" out of the back side of the rim with a cut-off wheel on a hand grinder. Then I just welded them together. I tried to get them close but I didn't forth a whole lot of effort to make sure they were still true. These tractors only go 7mph. I'm not really worried about a rim out of "true" or one breaking. I think the tires are Deestone 3.50x8 tri-ribs.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
