If it's the bottom bolt that tightens the bowl to the body, you might have stripped threads.....might try teflon tape.

You keep mentioning that it has a washer? It should not have a washer on it, should be a brass nut and a single gasket, if you have a washer on it, there is no way it will seal, the washer is your problem! You may have to follow the advice about tapping on the inside of the bowl with a socket to push the bottom of the bowl away from the carb to get it to seal properly.

My advice, lose the washer, install bowl with one gasket, I bet it cures your problem! Good luck let us know how it works out.

Default charlie105 fuel leak

the washer I used is the fiber washer that I think goes with the bowl nut. As of now I have;1 new bowl and 2 Fiber washers with a very light application of Permatex form a Gasket to the under side of the bolt, and between the washers. I let it dry, cleaned the threds, installed, and tightened it carefully. It still leaks. Tomorrow Teflon tape and 1 washer ! We got our 105 from my brother in law(my youngest son insisted "it's a family heirloom"), and hauled it back to Maine from Geneva,NY. The float bowl retaining nut/gasket has always leaked. The fiber gasket was already doubled up,indicating this problem has been going on for some time. We have; replaced the bowl, retaining nut gasket, bowl to carb gasket, and float baffel. I am even wondering if the fiber gaskets are just old stock that have hardened. We have checked out and followed suggestions (excep for Duke's suggestion NOT to use Permatex sorry Duke I couldn't help myself) and are gratefull for all the input.

Default 105 float bowl leak

Just for general info, and as an update--Fuel leak at the float bowl nut has apparently fixed itself after being run at operating temp. for 30-40 min. I was unwilling to operate it with a fuel leak, but had to"just for a few minutes",and it has been bone dry ever since. Thanks again for everybodys input !

Sounds to me like you have issues where the bolt seats. it's either damaged or something with the threads, maybe you can run a tap throught the threads where the needle goes, or blow it out good. maybe try a gasket on the inside also. just a thought.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
