Duke,
Right there when we need you!
I picked up the 4 units of 3/8 x 1.5 inch long stainless carriage bolts, washers ans lock nuts to mount the gear box to the mounting plate assembly. Getting late, may not touch Cub stuff tonight. Slacking!
Big day here! Kids just bought another house and 100 acres about 5 miles from us. Hummm maybe they will need a Cub or two also? Might be a good place to deer hunt too. Humm maybe they have lots of nice hard maple trees?
Regards,
Chris

Default electrolysis tank

I have seen a couple of pictures and reference to an electrolysis tank.
Not sure how they work or what they're used for. Sorry if this is in wrong forum. Would someone be able to fill me in on what they do and how, with possible drawing on the construction. Thanks in advance.

Two things (or more)
Welcome!
1 Your in the right place to talk Cub stuff, these guys can help you a lot.
2. I have some pictures of the electrolysis tank I built, on here in the thread about the QA42 snow blower (snowthrower) restoration. Wish I was as good as these guys in linking to old posts Lots of other posts about the rust cleaning process. Try the search function.
3. This #1 tiller that I started on was very used and needed a full restoration. It is in good working order again.
Regards,
Chris

Default rear drive unit comes together

Guys,
Couple shots of the rear drive as I put the pulleys on and mounted the drive to the bracket. Thanks again to AJ Gross for supplying the good used parts. some before shots too. Yea, used ss bolts here too.
To finish this I need to get the long belt underneath the tractor and get a mule drive set up with the solid pulleys.
Regards,
Chris

Jeff in PA,
(you had said)

"I have a 1A tiller I use on my 125 ( and 122 ). I purchased deeper V pulleys for the mule drive from NAPA, part number 7-05212 ( you need two ) and also the long drive belt from the PTO to the angle. I have an early 125 and it was belt AX-144 ( shorter belt iirc ). I also purchased the tiller belt but forgot to get that belt number, I'll add it later. The NAPA belts work great and have a big cost savings. tiller belt 3VX530"

Do you know if this long belt will work on a 102 or a 127 or 147? I did get the 3VX530 belt. I am going to check pricing at NAPA too. Thanks for the info!
Regards,
Chris

Chris,
I know it's the correct belt for the 102 and it looks like for the others too. I'll sent you a PM with the link ( another cub forum ) since I don't know if there is a "gentleman's agreement" on posting.

The AX-144 is a NAPA number, it was like half price of the dealer.

Jeff

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
