Thanks guys!
Put the coil on today and fired it up for a few laps around the yard. I need to adjust the governor. I hit the hydro lift lever and quickly realized I forgot to tighten one of the hoses on the cylinder.

A friend called me Sunday and asked if I wanted a free 48" mower deck. The one I have is rusted beyond repair so hopefully the shell is salvageable on the one my friend has. At least the spindles and pulleys are good on mine. I may go pick up the other deck tomorrow.

Picked up my free deck today. It's in much better condition than I was expecting. The only rust thru I can find is next to the right gauge wheel which has been patched before. I'll cut out that corner and fab a new piece to weld in. I'll be able to build a good deck with this one and the good parts (spindles, pulleys & blades) from my other 48" deck. ![]() ![]() ![]()

I started a thread in the "Implements & attachments" section named "48" deck overhaul" for the restoration of the deck for this tractor.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
