Had this one out to cut some grass today then gave it a much needed bath. Looks like someone has painted the hood. The paint is pretty badly crazed, not sure if it will compound out or not. Picked up a set of 10" wide wheels for it from a member here. I'll get them painted up and stick a set of Tru-Powers on it and load them. Old girl runs decent.

I have the same problem, PO painted all the plastics. Mine are all in decent shape except the nose piece but I cant figure out how to get the paint off without destroying them. Id love to polish it all out and make it shiny!

Travis
This one will never be a show queen, it's strictly a worker. Kind of to bad that the PO's let it go too far. ![]()

Remember, I saw it in person, I was just being nice!
![]() Still a good worker up close and looker at a distance! ![]() Ryan, the rot from the battery acid was the worst I saw, but also the only thing he hadn't fixed yet.

On the 2182's and 1782's the battery is mounted in front and above the engine. This one has had acid rot from the front all the way to the point that the frame starts to rise. Now as it is it still has a lot of life but it will never be a show Queen. It will live a long time as it is cutting grass and pulling cat 0 three point implements. Sucks that people let these things go the way they did but that's one of the reasons we get them cheap. When it's all said and done I will still have less into it than the price of a new TSC Cub and my guess is this bad boy will run for another 10 years as it is.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
