Well if the pictures post you'll know what I mean. All the kings horses and all the kings men said "hey we know this hillbilly from Tennessee and he can fix you up humpty" well it's still not 100% . Clutch problem kinda "fixed itself" still hanging up here and there. I'm gonna give it a little time. Got an oil leak. Only when it's running, in front. But doesn't appear to be front seal. Ran great first couple laps around the yard then wanted to start surging. Adjusted on the carb a little but didn't help. Didn't notice any wobble in the throttle shaft when I rebuilt the carb. But after it heated up it had a lot. Steering is like new. Zero play. Gotta get that dang nut on the steering wheel. Pop the clutch and your holding it in you hand
..... unattached lol. Pulled it back in the building for now as it's storming like crazy right now. The pictures look better than the actual tractor but I'm tickled with it and I know Austin would be too. As soon as I get it running right I'm gonna drive it up to the lady's house that Austin got it from and show her. We told her the day he bought it that we were gonna restore it and would be by |

Thanks guys..... now the bad - adjusted carb back to initial settings per the manual and it doesn't wanna start now. When I choke it then open the choke it hits but no start. Like I said earlier the throttle shaft seems to have a lot of play.
(1/16th or so probably) I used the cheap plug that came with rebuild kit, gonna replace that. Also didn't put in new points. Gonna do that. I used the best looking of the two sets I had. Plug wire I bought is toooo long and lays on the heat shield. Gonna pick up a shorter one. When I rebuilt the carb, I didn't soak in carb cleaner . Just used the spray stuff. Ok I know, .... I skimped on the external stuff a little and shouldn't have. But I'll get it!! Any advice? |

Excellent work, and that goes for both of you. Although it didn't go as planned, you can say both of you did fine work on the tear down and rebuild. There is a lot to be said for properly labeling and storing parts so things can be put back together. I'm glad to see you got it finished and did an excellent job.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
