Default some shots of the 14 hp, Kohler K321, 147R

Allan and folks,
Some cell phone pictures taken on my way out this morning. Clarity is not great but gives you the idea of the current status. So far it seems to be going OK.

What do you guys think of the color combo? I still have time to paint it all IH red but probably will leave the block flat black. Then on to the wiring, seat, dash assembly, engine installation, does it end?
Going to try to leave off the gas tank and top tins to allow the head to be re-torqued after running fo a while. (I am assuming it will run some day)

FYI The top dipstick is a shorty and just for adding oil. The real dip stick enters through the cam gear cover. It is a knurled knob with a o-ring on the shank, about 6 inch long stem.

I need the little rubber grommet for the point cover wire to pass through.

What was that about soaking the head gasket in water? I don't recall reading anything about that (?)

Personally I would still use the top tins just for cooling reasons. That might be more important on a fresh engine? I guess see what the pro's do.

My 147 has that same oil dipstick configuration.

That was valid 30 years ago, but not anymore. Modern head gaskets are not to be soaked.
