Disconnect the Governor, set the throttle at WFO, start it and walk away.

I'll try Steve, but Sam's suggestion is right at the top of my list.
I was going to kit the Kohler carb to have it in stock anyway, so Ol George's recommendation of trying it shall be done.

Sorry Stan. I'm out of recommendations unless I hear it. As many parts as you have swapped around, I don't know what to think anymore. I've lost track at what was original, and what has been changed......
I think it sounds like an ignition issue. But that was my guess before the new coil too.

I don't know what to tell you on getting a good video. I just use my phone, but I have a Galaxy 5, so I just upload it to YouTube from the phone. Depending on what you have, that may or may not be a good option.

While looking at Tv last evening, and seeing a ducolax commercial, I thought, have you tried to run that thing without the muffler?
possibly something got into there and plugged it up.
A broken baffle, a drunk with a beer cap?
Hell you have gotten all the mechanical things squared away, it is just carburation or Ign. and I'm leaning toward carb.

BTDT with a 57 Ford with a 292, it ran at least 5 minutes. And another one just like it threw a rod and went 3 miles to get us home. Mike

I agree George, carb or ignition and I'm going to do both again. I had the muffler off and used a shop air gun to blow thru all the pipes. It seemed ok. I have a kit coming for the original carb and CubDieselFan is loaning me a mag.

But did you run it with the muffler disconnected?

No I haven't George. Next time I have it running I'll take it off. Hopefully I can get the muffler off of the elbows, otherwise I'll have to run it right out of the heads.

Muffler will not like to come off the manifolds. remove it with the manifolds @ the heads.
just so you or others know:

---- To remove the muffler without damage, from the manifolds, first remove muffler with manifolds,
then clamp one manifold in a vice, warm muffler spigot near cherry red with torch and gently tap around the muffler spigot with small hammer to break it loose and expand it slightly.
it will come off with tapping and twisting motion, preventing damage to muffler, be careful they are not robust.
you might have to heat/hammer a few times.
Repeat process for other manifold/spigot
By heating the muffler pipe, or spigot, it expands and the taping also expands the pipe slightly as well as breaks the rust bonding.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
