After degreasing. Starting to feel more like a tractor that I would be proud to call my own.

Looks pretty productive, nice work!

If you remove the engine with the cradle attached, you won't need your special tool. Are you planning to do the cradle mod while you have it apart?

Bill

I had a stripped cradle bolt on the rear of the engine so I decided that instead of fighting it, I'd just unbolt engine from cradle instead.

And yeah, I cut out a strap of 1/4" plate at work Friday with intentions of doing the cradle mod as well. Also removing the engine shrouds and cleaning up the cooling fins while it is out.

Didn't get as much done today as I'd hoped, but I did get the cradle fixed - welded and reshaped all the holes to make them round again and added in the support brace. Paint is drying on the cradle now. Heres a better pic of the difference between the mounts that were in it and the Cub Cadet replacements. Not only are they severely tweaked, but the rubber compound is hard as a rock compared to the Cub replacements. Looks like the height of the engine was also incorrect with these aftermarket ones. Looking forward to seeing how much of a difference it all makes.

Looking good!

I'll put your trailer to good use

It's a shame we didn't get to meet today. Would have loved to take a look at your progress.

Small world eh?

Glad to see that the trailer is going to get some good use. We will have to make time in the future to hang out and talk tractors!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
