Nice looking tractor! I really like the fenders even though they aren't original IH issue. Dad had a 100 years ago that he mounted an early set of sears fenders on. Are those wheel horse fenders?

I really like your fenders, they look much better on the original then their original home on the JD 40. I can't understand why they'd put fenders so small on a tractor that size. that being said, we have a JD 40 and 420 in the family set up in the "utility" style, and their fenders were much more normal.

Several folks have thought they were Wheel Horse fenders, but nope. Hard to believe that they would have come from a full-sized tractor like a 40 J-D.
They looked REALLY small on the 40 but they do look pretty close to size on the Original.

There have been times when I have worked on a project and found a piece that is just the icing on the cake, although there is nothing wrong with the project itself. Well in m.h.o., the fenders are it. Very nice finished product.

Nice work as usual Andy, yeah the fenders are an awesome addition to that O and custom made to look almost OE, love it. Can't wait until the next show in a couple weeks, I'm not sure which ones I will bring but it will be fun!

Thanks!
It IS a blast to drive around on. So simple. Not counting botching up the hood, I think there were about seven or eight cans altogether. Two of the white and five/six of the yellow. Not too bad. Keep in mind that the wheels were already painted a while back. Counting them, I'd probably add another two or three cans. That estimate might be a little high, but I know there were a BUNCH of empties in the trash can before I emptied it! ![]()

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
