So I got my gear box mounted on tonight while I was bbq'ing my chicken for supper. It went pretty good, next to no oil leaked out when I removed the bolts from the rear cover. I didn't take the time to hook the trailer to the hitch to see if the difference in the hitch being flipped over would be too low or not - I am pretty sure it will be fine.
DSCN0990.jpg Realized today while I was polking around the garage at lunch I had the correct size of rolled steel for the top pin so I slid it in and just need to see how long it needs to be cut off at. I am going to make the bottom part of my sleeve hitch deep enough that I don't have to remove the gear box to use the plow - hopefully I can get it strong enough that it won't bend!? ![]() DSCN0992.jpg I think I will paint the rest of the hitch parts white the same as the frame work for the gearbox. Hmmmm..trip to IH dealer to get some paint! DSCN0991.jpg |

Thanks Allen....
http://www.gates.com/catalogs/file_d...tes%5Ccatalogs Anyone care to take a shot at determining which "model" or "version" of belt I would use to hook this tiller up to my 982? I know I won't get one from Cub Cadet that will be the correct length. I am thinking the Super HC series would be good - but I am no belt expert! I am pretty sure I am going to get the tiller hooked up on the tractor so it raises and lowers correctly then load it onto the trailer and head for my Case IH dealer and have them fit a belt to it. Perhaps one off a combine will work - but if not, I was just wondering which would be a good one to try from Gates if needed? I am going to try to get one long belt to drive from front to back. I will install something like this mid-way through if I HAVE TO: centre pully for tiller drive.jpg But I think if I can get away from this it will be much easier. One less thing to fabricate as well as something else to have hanging down from tractor that could catch something when not using the tractor. Too much of PIA to remove things all the time each spring and fall. Would rather just unhook the tiller and swap the mule drive and go back to mowing grass.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
