Flash Flood Watch NCZ001>006-018>020-VAZ015>017-032-141630- /O.NEW.KRNK.FF.A.0013.180915T1200Z-180918T0400Z/ /00000.0.ER.000000T0000Z.000000T0000Z.000000T0000Z. OO/ Ashe-Alleghany NC-Surry-Stokes-Rockingham-Caswell-Watauga-Wilkes- Yadkin-Grayson-Carroll-Floyd-Patrick- Including the cities of West Jefferson, Sparta, Dobson, Danbury, Eden, Yanceyville, Boone, Wilkesboro, Yadkinville, Independence, Whitetop, Troutdale, Volney, Galax, Floyd, and Stuart 428 AM EDT Fri Sep 14 2018 ...FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY MORNING THROUGH MONDAY EVENING... The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a * Flash Flood Watch for portions of North Carolina and southwest Virginia, including the following areas, in North Carolina, Alleghany NC, Ashe, Caswell, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry, Watauga, Wilkes, and Yadkin. In southwest Virginia, Carroll, Floyd, Grayson, and Patrick. * From Saturday morning through Monday evening * Heavy rain from Florence will lead to flash flooding across the area, especially by Saturday afternoon and evening into Monday. 5 to 10 inches of rain are expected, with locally higher amounts of a foot or more possible along the Blue Ridge. * Life-threatening flash flooding may develop as heavy rain bands occur this weekend into Monday. Streams and creeks may rise quickly during heavy rain and flood. Larger rivers eventually may rise to flood stage as well. * Rainfall of more than five inches in similar storms has been associated with an increased risk of landslides and rock slides. If you live on a mountainside or in a cove at the base of a mountain...especially near a stream...be ready to leave in advance of the storm or as quickly as possible should rising water...moving earth...or rocks threaten. Consider postponing travel along mountain roads during the period of heavy rainfall. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. Remember...TURN AROUND...DON'T DROWN! You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

Power out around 5. I’ll give about another hour then start getting generator in place. Really not bad here at moment but radar shows coming this way.

Looks like the eye of the storm went directly over Carolina Beach, which is where I was supposed to be camping right now.

According to accuweather, at 11:00 am it was only a cat 1, wind speed of about 81 and gusts of 98. It's lost almost half its strength. Let's pray it goes down to under that. I have no idea if that's accurate, so don't take my word for it.

We only got 6.5 " here SE of Raleigh, but it's still raining. Cubs are under cover, the trees are right side up and we didn't lose power for real long, though the gennie was gassed up and I had 15 gal in cans.
I'll get the generator out tomorrow, drain the gas into a spare can, the run it till it's dry and put it away for another year or two. That thing ALWAYS starts on the first pull (Briggs 9HP vanguard) John

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
