You guys talking about Detroit Diesels are giving me nightmares. I hated them with a passion. Had to deal with 6v53N's, 6-71's, 6-110's, 6V92ta's, 8v71's and 6-71ta's they all sucked. Give me a Cat or a Cummins any day

If you don't know how to drive a truck with a Detroit, they would seem underpowered. If your dad preferred a gas to it, he likely didn't know how to drive it. They are an altogether different motor.

Let's get back on track. The replacement flywheel came late today so I didn't get to do much. Visually it looks identical. Tomorrow I'll do a little clean up work
and stick it on the crank for a test run. I don't have much hope at this point, that it will make any difference. It looks like I need to try another coil. Does anyone have one I could borrow for a test run? I hate to shell out $100 for a new one if that's not the issue. Our forecast for the next few days is iffy and I really don't want to pull the M20 out of the 2072 anyway. But I will if I have to. I'm not giving up just yet.

Good used flywheel made no difference. Waiting on borrowed coil from CubDieselFan (thanks Greg)
Still have no good way to record video and sound. Will try with my phone again tomorrow. We are supposed to get 6-8" tonight and tomorrow. May not be in the shop much.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
