Probably not as time consuming as driving to a hardware store to buy a 90. Shouldn't be a mess unless you cant handle a hose.

As I am approaching proper fill level, I will use my pinky as a dip stick to test the level. Once I am close to the fill plug level, I pour it in the funnel by the cup full with a drain pan underneath so that I don't have a giant mess on the floor.

I have had good luck using a long transmission funnel sticking it in the hole. It's still gonna burp on you. I've often thought about punching the hole out to 3/4" NPT.

When I filled my last couple rears with the plug in the cover I used a quart plastic bottle that had a nipple as a cap. I just filled the bottle and squeezed till empty and refilled till rear was full. I am not sure what came originally in that bottle but sure am glad I saved it.

You changed the filter, right????? I didn't believe that filters could get stopped up or cause trouble until it happened to me. After that, my 1811 is the best hydro I have.

If you did, start checking linkages and the trunion. It takes a while, but isn't difficult to remove the fender pan so you can see how things are working. Take a hard look at the trunion and the 2 springs in it. If you have to go that far, I would recommend changing the cork gasket on the pump--its cheap and they don't last forever. Lots of threads on here dealing with cork gaskets and trunion repair.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
