So I know the 73's are decently rare, but I'm looking to buy one from a gentleman that has it listed at 150, but it has a 10 horse engine, square fenders, but has deck. It looks decent if you take the square fenders off, but I was wondering if this is like o's where a 10 horse is a major problem. What is it honestly worth? Will try to upload pics soon

Are you sure that it is a 73? I probably would not go much over $125 for it in that condition. Itsa plane jane model and to put it back would mean looking for the correct engine, not too hard to find but that will cost a few more bananas......If the engine runs and you want it as a worker, then $150 with deck would be alright.

I gotta agree that putting it back to being a 73 will get into your pocket. Buy it for $125.00 and use it like it is, wait patiently for the right engine to come along then nickel and dime it back to what it should be. Better yet, see if the owner still has the right engine for it and get him to throw it in on the deal. Good Luck

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
