If you have a decent file, they could be flat filed to remove the stuck disk material. |

As mentioned, get a rebuild kit. That way you have the adjustment tool.
Here are the parts from my 149 rebuild, I had the old style PTO, so I think the parts are all the same. I'd replace the locking collar and bearing too, they're cheap, why not while you're in there. Along with the thrust button you already ordered, and a nice brass button from Jeff. I also replaced the throw out levers, mine were pretty rusted in the middle and one was broke. While you're in there and have it apart, it's worth considering. You should be good to go ![]() http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...0&postcount=44 Quote:

Thanks!! Those sure look like nice quality parts. Next time I'll check with you before I order those prices are better than what I already paid.

So here's my latest dilemma... I pulled apart and rebuilt the PTO and have noticed it takes what seems to be excessive pressure on the thrust button to disengage the PTO. It's already wearing into my wear button with only being disengaged a few times. Is my torque not correct on the bolts on the PTO? Any tips are appreciated.
Thanks!! |

Two questions: 1.) Did you use the tool to adjust the fingers on the clutch like you are supposed to? There isn't a torque for those bolts... they are to be adjusted to a certain height. 2.) Do you have a PTO driven implement on? The clutch should be left in the ON position when no implement is attached. This style of clutch needs "drag" to keep if from turning. IIRC, it is even stated in the owners manual. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
