Guy's let's back off just a bit. It's real easy to turn a guy at this age away rather than help him become an educated member of society that is capable of thinking. I for one would rather be challenged by youth like CubCadet129 than deal with the mindless trash we see everyday on the TV. Look at your self but turn the clock back to when you were 15, I did, I knew it all and I'm sure you guys did as well. If we old farts don't make the time and effort to work with todays kids this country is screwed. The public education system is a total joke. I may disagree with the comments from CubCadet129 but at least we have someone that is willing to put into words what he thinks. Beats the Hell out of "Hey Man, Ya Got any good shit? " sorry but I have a very low tolerance for what today is called society.

Now I have a legit question.
over he last 1/2 century+,
I have collected an assortment of quality tools, along with others, not professional quality like most of everyone
The problem with
Snap off, Cornwel, proto, mac etc.
is where to get new or replacements for broken ones.
Ain't like I can go to a store and get them like i can for crapsman or S/K.
I did stop once @ a auto dealer when I saw the snap off man there,
he blew me off as not worth the time as he would not make regular stops @ my shop to make his $$ back, I did purchase a 3/8 drive universal from him.
and I ain' broke it like I do with crapsman.

You can ship them back to said company and they will replace them. Sucks you have an a$$hole dealer. Call Snap on corperate and let them know you would like a dealer to stop at your shop.

I've had the same experience with multiple dealers, George. If you no longer owe them $100 a week, they don't give the time of day.

You hit the nail on the head with this one and thats all I really intended to say, but then I started thinking about mentoring. The days when a kid could learn mechanics hanging around the local garage or gas station are long gone. Mentoring young people, even on forums, is an excellent way to 'pay it forward'.

Thanks for the reply. not doing much wrenching any more other than just my personal stuff and keeping the tractors running, farming what few acres I do, just to enjoy my retirement years.
So a stop by would be a waste of his time.
Our sears store closed, but the local Hwd, sells crapsman but will only replace the newer tools he stocks and only the ones with part numbers on them.
Hell almost all my crapsman are so old they have no numbers.
I can go to maybe 35 miles to a sears in the city but their selection is limited.
They will order replacement tools,
but still scratch their heads with the tools that are old and no numbers just "craftsman" on them.

It's funny that you never hear someone who actually bought a snap-on tool complain about the price, it's always people who don't buy them that complain about how much they cost. My fine tooth 3/8 snap-on ratchet was over 100 dollars . I love that ratchet it's almost fun to use cause it's so smooth and the fit of the rotating part of the ratchet is very nice. Everybody should buy a snap-on screwdriver set and I guarantee that you will think it's worth ever penny. You haven't used a screwdriver till you use a # 2 Phillips from snap-on

Kudos Ryan!!!!

Everyone has different knowledge levels depending on what they do and how old they are. My oldest brother is a mechanic with thirty years of experience and prolly has spent north of $40,000 on tools over the years. Snap-on. Not my cup of tea, but it works for him.

CubCadet129, use/buy what works for you. Good to have the younger generation in our hobby. Hopefully every teen that joins here doesn't get run off.

Hope everyone else feels better for raking a 14 year old over the coals. I think he did pretty darn good standing up for himself.

Now what was the original topic before is derailed and blew up?
Way to go Josh, thanks for standing up for our younger generation.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
