Need help about a carb for a 169 cub. Got a roller without engine. Found a new K341 kohler short block but have to get a carb. Per parts book I need KH-45-853-09 assy. Have not found one, was told that that a #30 Kohler carb would work. Does anybody have any advice and/or knowledge about carb for the 169.

Cub Cadet used two different vendors for their carbs - Carter and Walbro. Carter being the most popular. They used basically two different sizes, that being 26 & 30, referring to the size of the diameter of the venturi in millimeters. AFAIK....the #30 would be the correct size for a 16HP Cub.

Thanks Roland & Diz for your help with my 169 carb. Sombody gave me a used Walbro (needs cleaning first) they claim would work on a 169. I'll try it until A good #30 Carter is found.
What I also forgot to ask is that the 169 I got is a manual lift but is ported for hydraulic lift. I have parts from a 149 that could be used to convert the 169 to hydraulic which I would prefer. The question is the 169 with manual lift more desirable if I sold it. Thanks for your input, this is the best forumn, a lot easier to follow various posts. |

For ME....a 169 w/hydraulic lift would be more desirable than the "arm strong" lift. Ain't as young as I use to be...:biggrin2.gif:

I just bought a 169 recently to be my "restoration" project. I'll check the carb on mine tonight and snap a pic of it for you. My tractor appears to be pretty much all original. It also has the the manual lift. I plan on putting the hydraulics on it. However, expect that to be a ways down the road. If the manual lift on yours is in good repair/working order I'd be interested in buying it - which would defray the some of the hydro cost.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
