Hi guys
Here's the story: Last winter when I reringed the motor in my 102. I put a teaser spring and clutch disc in just because it was apart and teaser spring was broke. Everything worked great! A couple weeks ago I was cutting grass going up a hill. I had to stop, backup and restart. (This was a little steep) Anyhow I pulled this huge wheelie. Yehawww, I'm getting too old for this stuff, but I survived. Now my clutch is slipping. The teaser spring is not broke. The pedal feels a little short. Any ideas? |

Did you turn the clutch disk on a lathe when you replace the teaser spring and clutch disk?
What condiation is the driveshaft in where the clutch go? Another area to check is where the clutch arm pivots. The pin and area where the pin goes through could have some wear in it. |

I just put the parts in. Had no idea about turning the clutch disc. Everything looked to be in good shape.
This 102 was working fine till the wheelie. It's like something gave, bent or slipped. I'll look at the clutch arm pivot points tomorrow. You might be on to something there. The pedal feels to have lost travel. Thanks for the reply. |

Check for a sheared drive pin in the rear coupler, where the driveshaft connects to the rearend input shaft.
I had one shear and it acted like the clutch was slipping until I put enough force on it to cause the sheared pin to slip freely. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
