That's a good looking tractor. I like the black wheels, gives it a batmobile look.

Thanks Nick! I really like having it around in my collection. Sad to say, I had to push my 1211 out to make room for this 86 under the wood shed, lol!

Nice to see you posting TheSaturnV! Yea, the mud flaps don't really look too bad! They are mounted by using the existing reflector lens mounting holes, and with a piece of 4" x 1" x 1 1/8" piece of wood on the back side. Nice and neat!
I really like this 86, but wish I never sold my model 100! Got to have an all-gear IH Cub Cadet in the line up, to complement that IH Cub Cadet hydro,...or CCC ! One a side note: I had planed to trade the 86 for some 1450 parts, but I hooked a perfectly running 1450 for $140.00 , so that was that. Don't need any parts for my good 1450. Then, I switched gears and decided I want to have my 1211 as a plow day tractor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But, this 86 might go. For me, its the thrill of the hunt, lol! I pretty much have what I like and want. { planning on gearing up for some major OEM up grades to my 1450, got all I need to } |

That 86 looks pretty good! Was that the hardware store that burnt down last spring? I've been up that way a few times. There were several cubs at my friends auction, unfortunately they sold the 86 last so I didnt get a chance to buy any of the others. Not a big deal, tho, I have a couple more I can use. Roy

The kid who is about 22 now, first got the tractor when he was 14. He took pretty good care of this model 86. It would be nice if it had the faster gear drive transmission! I will remove the mud flaps, lol!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
