Default 127 vs 105
I have a 1450 that I use as my work tractor and a 1250 in decent shape I need a motor for. I was checking around and found a 127 and a 105 both need minor work and both are about the same price. I'm leaning towards the 127 because worst case I have a block to rebuild for my 1250. What are everybody's thoughts on the best option? I will be using it as my primary mower.

The K301 block in the 127 probably isn’t drilled and tapped for the electric PTO clutch.

That's the biggest issue and in addition unless you have the old 1250 motor for parts, you would need to aquire all your starting and charging parts.
i.e. flywheel, stator, regulator, starter motor

Thanks for that info. I didn't realize the blocks would be that different. It appears that all of the stuff to bolt on to the engine was stripped off and put in boxes. When I got the 1450 the guy threw in the 1250 and 4 boxes of parts and a spare hydro. It appears to have all of the electric pto parts .

I don't think I would want to sacrifice an intact 127 to fix up a 1250. The 127 is pretty nifty little machine. Correct me if I read you wrong.

No only partially. I wouldn't try to swap the engine if it ends up being intact I was thinking as a worst case scenario it might have been an option. But i see no sense in taking apart a good running machine. I'd just put a deck on the 127
and use it as is.
