This post may get moved but I didn't know where else to post it(but it is IH). Went and looked at this today not far from me: Late 1973 154 Cub LoBoy that has pros and cons. Recent drive shaft and clutch replacement, fresh IH stamp carb.rebuild.Runs very good w/no smoke, shifts and stops, lift is good, nice tight Woods 59" deck w/all guards, good sheet metal and fiberglass and comes with a hard to find IH front blade W/hanger! The Bad: Will need a upper column bearing/bushing,steering wheel, missing steering tower/rear engine pulley covers(L/R),Grote rear light, head lights do not work.Hood is a replacement from a early LoBoy,decals don't match the dash cowl. I took these pics before we fixed the L/F tire and then drove/used it. He is firm on the $1,350! I was told it had a rear lift but it does not,if it was there this machine would be home with me right now! I have owned a 154 before and the drive line is a mother to work on and not easy on fuel if you mow thick grass. Any thoughts/inputs would be great! I kinda want it and can justify mowing with it....???

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
