Hood Supports

While piecing back together my 1250, I noticed the hood when shut left a huge gap in between it and the dash. I adjusted the lower cast iron grill back towards the dash. I also moved the dash tower the opposite direction and ended up with a 1/8" to 3/16" gap. There was just enough lip on the dash to catch the hood, but not support it properly. I decided to fab up a support using a 1/8" x 1 1/2" aluminum strip. Bent it up to fit the inside contour of the dash. Then I made 2 brackets that attach to the upper most bolt hole in the dash tower that will connect to the support. Sorry, I don't have pictures at the moment, but they will soon follow. Has anyone else made a support to help ease the load on the dash?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
