list of Super Cubs, etc...
OK, I have become very interested in the Super Cubs so I want to understand more about them. If there is a book or website, etc.. that lists all of the info on each one I would like to know about it. Otherwise, I hope you can help me with general info on the models, what is good and bad on each model. What year did they start the Supers and when did it end, or is it still going on?
First question is are all Supers basically the same physical size? In my previous post I was looking at a 2082. I learned from that exchange that the rear end in it is cast aluminum not good but the power steering and deck is good. Plastic is bad, got that. ' Scott pointed me in the direction of an 1872, but nothing was said about what it is. Does this one have the cast iron rear end? Is it all sheet metal? I assume they are 18hp. Was power steering standard on these? Is the 982 considered a Super? Will the 3 pt lift from any cub work on these or does it have to be for a Super? What other models should I be looking for? As far as the plastic goes, I can live with that if the tractor is well built. As Scott mentioned, I can always change over tin. I am just trying to come up with something that can be put to work right away and work on it along the way. I don't have the luxury of running all over the country picking up parts tractors and putting one together, as much as I would love to. I can however make one big trip for the right tractor. I guess what would be nice is to have a list compiled of good tractors with their week points pointed out. If it us junk, it's not worth mentioning. It would also be interesting to see different views on some of these tractors. I will be honest, I do use my equipment to the max. I take care of it but I will use it.
