Thumbs up CC in CT

Hello everyone,

New to the forum, obviously, and new to Cubs. My first rider mower was a 2003 Troybilt POS I found on the side of the road. It got me into yard machines though. It finally ended its years of service in the fall and so until now I was without any rider. As I was looking for new machines I realized I wanted something built to last and pull. I got a SS twin but turned it around for a nice profit within a week. Then I found this IH CC 126 sitting on an old falla's front yard. Long story short I got it cheap. This guy had 5 other tractors of which this was the smallest. It starts up and runs impressively smooth. It came with the mule drive. It has the headlight option and all lights are working. It has fresh rear tires and one dry rot flat front tire. Paint has seen much better days but still original. The only thing I don't like is that he bolted a shelf on the back of the tractor for a monster INTERSTATE battery. He kept the battery and I have a standard 12v that I can reinstall under the hood. I only have 1/3 an acre of land but wanted a deck for it. I found a guy who exclusively collects and sells old CC tractors, parts and accessories. I had my choice of five 38" decks. It cost me more than the tractor! Despite a hole rusted through the rear right side of the deck, it turns very smooth, came with good blades, has the proper 1/2" pully and came with the quick mount frame. I may try to restore the deck a bit but definitely will attend to the rust and hole sooner than later.

All said and done I have a running IH CC 126 with a 38" deck at modest cost in time for spring. Immediate needs are new front tires and a cup holder. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
