GT2544 belt issue

I just bought this from my neighbor and he had no problems with it. The other day I went to mow and the engine stalled when I engaged the PTO. This happened 3 times then the deck ran. About 5 minutes later the deck stoped and I found the PTO belt completely shredded. Thinking nothing of it, I replaced it and then 10 minutes later, the deck belt broke (this one wasn’t shredded. Took the deck off and inspected it. All spindles are tight and spin freely. Replaced both belts and mowed for 20 minutes and the PTO belt shredded again. Any help greatly appreciated as my lawn looks like a hayfield.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
