Hello: I am new to this forum. I am in mid Mississippi and although new to this forum I am not new to Cub Cadets, having owned one since '79. I built a house in '79 here in Madison, Ms. It had/has 3 acres and so I needed a rider mower. I called Wright Motor and Equipment (now closed) who was a Pontiac, Rambler, and IH dealer in my old home town of Crystal Springs. I didn't know much about Cub Cadets but I knew they were good and tough. They told me of a farmer W of Clinton Ms that had a Cub he wanted to sell. I went out there and there was this '75 108 that looked pretty decent, 44" deck. I bought it ($900- a pretty good sum in those days). I used it for the next 20 years putting no telling how many hours on it; one new engine and then two rebuilds of that engine. In '98 I bought a JD 345 54" power steering, hydro and parked (always under cover) the Cub. A couple of years ago I decided to do a restoration on the Cub. It was running good and I had had the deck rebuilt in '97 by an old time mower fix it guy, now deceased, who always loved my Cub. I am enclosing some photos here of the Cub. I look forward to visiting this site. Thanks, Mike Martin `````````````````````````````````````````````````` `````````````````````````````````````````````````` `````````````````````````````````````````````````` ``````````````````

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
