1864 - 46" GT Deck - belt wear
Just wondering how much belt wear is 'normal'?
The A&I belt I had on lasted 5 years so I think things are in good condition but after the first mowing with a new Oregon belt, I see a slight amount of wear on one edge of the bottom of the V on the belt. I didn't expect to see any wear but considering all the twists and turns the belt makes it amazing they last at all! With the tension off of the belt, the mule has sideways play. Is this normal or needs to be tightened up at the mounting points? Belt alignment looks good, pulleys, idlers and spindles are all decent. Any suggestions on things to check to be proactive and keep from having issues in the future? I'm considering replacing the mule pulleys just because I think they could spin more freely. Also want to replace the bearing on the deck double pulley since they seem a little noisy. Will probably drop the deck hanger and mule this winter and go over everything. Thanks, I can get some pictures tomorrow.
