Default New IH Planter!!

Well, had a very exciting day. Been planning the trip today since last week. Some of you may recall that last year I finally got my Brinly planter set up and planted the garden with it. I'm a farm boy, and expected it to perform like a "big" planter, just on a smaller scale. I was mildly disappointed. It didn't do terrible, just not like I had hoped. I had been looking for a 295 IH row unit planter since I bought the Brinly, but hadn't been able to find one. I joined an IH group on FB, and decided to ask the group if anyone had any 295 units they would sell. Lo-and-behold, a guy from Indiana about 135 miles from me had 2 he said he would sell! Called my buddy Chris, who also wanted one and told him I had found a pair. We both jumped for joy, as the price was beyond fair. Made plans to make the trip today and went and got them!

One unit was right off the planter, and the other had been mounted to a homemade cart for replant work. I took the unit on the cart. Chris and I both plan to make them mounted for use on a Brinly adapter. We both also plan to take the large box off and make a smaller "can" for garden planting. No need for a 1.5 bushel seed box for 2lbs of seed, lol. We even got the Gandy insecticide/fertilizer boxes for both units!!

I'll update with more pics as I progress on the build, but here is a couple shot of it in the truck. Sorry I didn't take more, but it was cold and dark when we got home.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
