105 surging/dying with deck engaged

I mowed last summer with the 105 after putting on a new carb and belts, and plowed this winter.

After installing the deck, I am having it surging and or dying under load. See video, it cycles just like this:

I just ordered a tuneup kit, but until that comes, I have done the following:
Set points to.020, they were a little wider. Set high speed screw back to 2 turns out from closed, set idle 1-1/2 from closed. Started, turned up throttle to full, and adjusted per maintenance manual.

I then engaged the deck, and fine tuned. Then I take it out, and it still acts like the video. What would be the symptoms of the valves needing resurfacing?
