Sad news for my 100
yep its true, Yesterday I went to start my toy and it just spun over and over,
No Compression, Took the head off and found the Exhaust seat had popped out. Its a shame, this engine has so little hours on it. The tough part is I just cannot put much $$ into this thing. SO today I did talk to our local machine shop owner, Really great guy. He's had his business for nearly 50 years. ( not the shop that rebuilt my engine) and he really has a fondness for these old tractors. Told me he could install a new seat for about $30. Unfortunatly I'd have do all the labor. And recommended a tear down just to avoid damage from metal shavings. Now I'm thinking that since It will be stripped down, may as well have him dip the block, and Then I can repaint it. I'll have him check the crank and the bore just to make sure its good. The .020 piston looks brand new. Maybe with new gaskets, paint , points etc I can get it running for less than $150, Any more and I'll just have to scrap the whole tractor and move on. I really like my Cubs. But things are getting tough financially. Home insurance is going up, taxes goin up, roof leaks, wife won't get a job, yada yada..... Sorry for the rant, very sad these last days Wish me Luck please Dave
