He told me I could bring the tractor home, strip off what I need from it, and bring it back to him for $100...this would be the rockshaft, lift cylinder, valve, hydro pump, dash..and pretty much anything I wanted except the engine.

Guess I've gotten spoiled....

That's a great dealer!

My local cub dealer is about as friendly as a wall and talks about as much as one. Now on the other hand he has a picture of himself sitting on his dad's 70 and his prices are pretty good.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
