Better blades?

I am running a 44C deck under the 149 that mows Mother in Law and My yard every week. It has the small belt pulley on it. It has a good set of original blades but in thin grass they don't lift well and of course in the thick stuff they leave a lot of clippings windrowed. I was wondering if anyone has tried mulching blades and high lift blades with better results? All the baffles are under deck so unless there are mods to the deck that I can do kind of stuck with that. I remember the 108 Dad had windrowed bad, cause He wouldn't cut grass enough, in taller thicker fescue. Any tips on making a 40 year old deck cut a little better? I think the new pulley is the speed up pulley too, but will check that.
