![]() Goal was to put 82 series sheet metal on a Cyclops while maintaining the tilt wheel, indicator lights, etc. The Cyclops dash had to be narrowed to fit the 82 series hood. This was accomplished by cutting a 3/8 inch wedge from each side the upper part of the dash. 1 DSCN0742.jpg 2 DSCN0750.jpg 3 DSCN0751.jpg The side panels were split and spread to meet the lower edge of the metal hood. 3a DSCN0761.jpg Each side of the dash needed trimmed to allow the side panels to fit properly. 4 DSCN0748.jpg 5 DSCN0770.jpg 6 DSCN0762.jpg Right side of the tower was drilled and tapped for a 1/4-20 bolt to secure the panel. 8 DSCN0767.jpg Left side required a new bracket with a 1/4-20 stud and the panel trimmed to clear the hydraulic lift lines. 9.jpg Additional metal was removed from each side panel to allow adequate cooling air for the engine. 11 DSCN0776.jpg Perforated metal from McMaster – Carr was used to fill in the gap on each side panel. 10 DSCN0785.jpg Perforated metal was attached by spot welding on the right side. Works fine if you plan to repaint anyway. 12 DSCN0766.jpg On the left side J B Weld was used. Works well, doesn't burn the paint. Took a lot of time as each segmented needed clamped and time to cure. 13 DSCN0796.jpg If I was to do it again I would use perforated aluminum. Cut out the wedge shaped split and additional cooling opening in one piece and J B Weld them in. I hope this is useful to anyone considering a similar project. I may due a re-paint one of these days, or put the plastic back on . |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
