Cub Cadet 129 (K301) Questions
Hello all,
As I mentioned in my "hello" post, I recently acquired a cub cadet 129 with the K301 Kohler, and while I did get the engine to run without spending any money, the machine had next to no power, and won't even reach high idle. It seemed the engine had very low compression, which I guess wasn't suprising after I took the cylinder head off on Friday, as it was leaking oil. So, I thought I would post a few pictures of where I am at as of now and see what you guys think. It looks to me that part of the piston is burned away, possibly from a fuel mixture being to lean or poor timing, and there are some more vertical wear marks in the bore as well (as well as everything just being kinda dirty). I priced just a piston kit from kohler at $180+ and have seen "overhaul" kits (gaskets, seals, bearings, piston&pin, rings, valves, etc) for LESS than that. --ALSO, where could I find a set of lights for this cub? I've seen the 128/129's with lights and I think they look sharp! Thanks - looking forward to getting this little cub in good running condition and keep it around for another 40 years! Calvin
