If you are building it for you and you alone, don't be concerned about the money being put into it and if you could recoup the funds from selling it. I'm sure there is someone out there that would pay a good price for a nicely restored Cub Cadet, but one could have to advertise for a while before finding the right buyer.
When I called around trying to find someone to rebuild my CCO K161, the only guy that would do it was basically wanting to charge me $500 for re-assembling the motor. He was going to have someone else do the machine work and I'd pay that as extra plus all the parts. My dealer is a cool guy that helped me put it back together after hours and didn't charge me anything extra. I deffinately gave him a good plug when writing my article for Cadet Connection magazine last year. I think it's great to have all of the online resources and parts guys, but sometimes buying local will get you more help than just the parts you are buying.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
