update:
So the engine in the 127 had this window.
I have a running 127 with a black engine so a heart transplant was performed.
I reused some of the engine sheetmetal cause I like yellow better than black.
The newer engine head is different and so I had to use the black muffler hanging tin.
Notice the muffler clamp.it is a two-piece 1.375" steel set collar. Just because I had one.
I put one of those new aftermarket carbs on it too. I need to adjust the throttle cable cause it runs at mid range when throttle lever is on low.
Other pictures show what it looked like under the fender-seat-footrest pan before and after I pushed and brushed off the build up of grass and dirt.
I have yet to wash any of the tractor, what you see is unwashed.
And I have yet to hit it anywhere with new paint.
Is that level of hytran about right? I stuck a stick down to the bottom and moved it a bit to bring up sludge. There was some on about the last 1/4" of the stick. Rubbed it between the fingers to feel for grit and it was nice and slimey.
I think the tranny trunnion thingy plate needs to be built up and reworked with straight edges around the spring and washers though.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
