Ok. Went to the scrap yard today on my lunch break because I had a hour to use and not much to eat. Traded in some pop cans and got 15 bucks, so now I could grab a gyro from down at the coffee shop. But as I was walking away, I see a IH Cub Cadet. I ask if it were ok for me to walk down and have a look, and the guy said sure! I always ask, and then they know you're down there.
Get there and it's a 1250! No deck, side panels and cant remember if it had a implement lift lever or not. Motor and dash, instruments complete. Rear fender pan little rusted foot rests. Not too bad I convince myself! Alright, I get into the truck and break for lunch. Get home tonight, call the yard and ask about how much money for the cub cadet. Paul said he would have to put it on the scale and weigh it, and sell the tractor to me for what he paid for it! Cool! So, how much does this 1250 weigh? If its 600 pounds at .08 cents that's a whole 48.00! I don't know much about the tractor's vitals. I'm going to find out in the morning! If I do get it , we'll have something to talk about. My 71 runs so good, there is nothing I can do to make it better. My 72 is just in so many pieces. If I were to land this 1250 it would be my first wide frame. I will make cardboard gaskets. It will be the poor man's budget IH Cub Cadet project. A hydro model I wanted one so bad! Wish me luck!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
