1650 smoking when started

Howdy all,
I have a 1975 1450 with a k341 engine in it. The engine is about 12 years old and it was a new engine not a rebuilt. The problem That I am having is that when I start it up it pushes out a lot of smoke and only fires half the time when first started but as the tractor gets warmer the smoke goes away and it starts running like it should. It seems like it is running like this longer and longer every time it is started. Last year I replaced the coil, plug, point, and the spark plug. It is throwing me they a loop. any ideas.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
