Quick 782 question
Hey guys quick question for you all. I have a 782 that has been hard to start ever since the weather got cold. Had some spare time the other day when the temp outside was a bit warmer. The battery in it is a Wally world special dated 2009, so I wasn't suprised to find the battery dead. About a month ago, I got the new to me trupowers on it along with a newer set of cub plastic/ cement wheel weights installed (I would guess these weights weigh in at around 70 lbs plus each) which made the tractor a bit heavier to shove outside and hook her up to the jumper cables. Anyhow, I got it to jump start, had to pour a little gas into the carb to get her to fire off (maybe the fuel pump is going south on me). I drive it around the block, and let if run for quite some time, hoping the battery would pick a charge, well it did. I was able to shut if off and restart it without issue. The next day it was warm also, so I decided to try and start it again. Again, the battery was dead, not a real suprise based on it's age.
But, okay, here comes the real question this thread is all about (sorry for all the rambling on here), after if failed to start, with the key off, I noticed the hour meter was running. I am assuming the ignition switch must be bad, I can't think of anyother reason why the hour meter would be spinning with the key off. I have no idea how long this has been going on, but would explain the dead battery, am I right assuming that I need to order an new ignition switch? Thanks!
