Cub 1641 boggs down

I have a cub 1641 with the briggs 16 horsepower with the 48" deck. When mowing after about 20 yards or with any speed above creeping the engine boggs down the shoot gets clogged i have to stop clap the deck. The tractor seems to run great on real short grass but other than that it doesn't, any suggestions,, i did just remove the deck clean it and spray down with wd-40 so the grass wouldn't stick. Help the slightest bit. Kinda acts like i am always mowing wet grass but i am not. Also cust grass only shoots out about 2 feet. Thanks for any help.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester.
