hey guys. Ever since I started cutting with my 1450 I have had problems with it scalping. I have a small yard and every time I turn left I end up with ridges of grass that are too tall. I also have a few small hills that get scalped pretty bad. I have the early 50" deck with no front deck wheels. I notice a lot of the newer decks I see have front and rear wheels so I thought about adding a set of front wheels to mine.
I found a kit on amazon that is sold by MTD and meant to be add on rear deck wheels for some of their newer tractors. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...00_i00_details The brackets included are really beefy and the rollers and hardware are of good quality too. I had to put the bracket I used on the discharge side in my bench vise and bend it a little to make it fit. The other side needed no mods. Other than that I just drilled some mounting holes in the deck and bolted them on. ![]() ![]() I will be testing this setup out in a little bit here. Hoping to see my whole yard cut at the same height, fingers crossed!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
