Up front, didn't have time to get any pictures....got too late.
But put a new S/G belt on the 149 today, and it wouldn't start. Took the plug out and it had fire when I turned the switch key on and when I turned it off, but not when cranking. So I took the points cover off and the hot lead was touching the cover. Fixed that and it ran...of sorts. I didn't get the governor adjusted last week, and had a devil of a time getting it right. It would run and idle, but if I just touched the throttle it wanted to go out of control. Some heated discussions between me and the adjustment and finally I got it some what right. At least it ran pretty good. So, I added almost 1/2 gallon of HyTran fluid and we went for a ride. These things will run. Just a good throttle up and the hydro in Run 8, we went for a ride. I probably put 5 miles or so on it, went to see a couple neighbors. One neighbor wanted one just as soon as he looked it over. So we may have another convert. Pictures tomorrow if the wind isn't impossible. We are suppose to have another rip snorter windy day. Also planted potatoes and onions. I'm tired but me and the Cub are happy. Dave |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
