Whelp, if it's gonna be a 50 hour job to convert, I woulda rebuilt mine. I got the engine for almost nothing, and it was only 13 miles away. The labor to R&R the engine is basically the same to rebuilt or swap in this, so if I can put a 10HP in there, and it will run(it has compression), then my R&R time just got more valuable.

Suppose my crank is trash? Suppose my cyl is damaged? Suppose my cam is flattened? Everything is relative, so I ask; "is it a drop-in repl"?

Right now, it's looking like there are very few mods/upgrades/changes to get the 10HP pushing, and I have less to worry about this summer when the grass gets high again. It was working pretty hard with just the 7.

It seems to me that no matter what route you choose to go,
the first step involved is removal of the seized engine from the tractor.

So why wouldn't you take that first step, and then you can place the two engines
side by side and the answer to your question will be right in front of you.

Guess you won't know until you dismantle it.

I would remove the old and clean the carb, new points, plug, and condenser. What ever else needs done to the K241 to get it running. Stick it on the "O" The wiring to the motor is the same as the 8hp

I pulled the K161 from the Original. The engine mounts are the same pattern.

And, I come here for assistance just any other CC owner. In a few weeks, I'll be able to answer the question; 'K241 drop in fit to Original', and what is needed.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
